And the worst for Sony is that they can't really shake this bad image. Like the xbox (rrod) and wii (mom's console) once it's set like that in the mind of the mainstream, erasing it is near impossible. Even if Sony pushes a big PR campaign - which they will have to do - this won't go away. People are herd animals and once the herd is moving in one direction it's hell getting them to go the other way. This thing could even force a pricecut on the PS3. |
Both of these posts are QFT.
I can say personally that the bad rep never dies down. I think its a rule of the internet, if you fuck something up it will never ever be forgotten. I mean my 360 has been nearly 2 years now (this is my first one) and I have had 0 issues with it. But every time I go anywhere online, people are always stating how they were on their 10th 360 before they finally gave up and switched. This makes me think either I am one of the luckiest gamers alive or they are blatantly overexagerating lying, and I am inclined to believe its the latter.
As for the casual demographic, I can vouch for that since a LOT of my friends do not go around checking for reviews or what not. They don't follow any certain publisher or developer, heck I don't even think they know who made COD (or the fact that COD alternates between IW and Treyarch every year), which is what they mainly always play. So yea, the mainstream audience is indeed very different than what some people on these boards tend to perceive.
