Possible, but FFXIII already had lots of cutscenes, so I guess unless FFVersusXIII will have double the gameplay content, it wouldn't make much sense increasing the amount of cutscenes.

So as ishiki mentioned before. If it's only bigger levels, more npcs or whatever it doesn't make much of a difference.

Also I know this is more of a joke in here, but the 360 version of FFXIII is under 15GB. Meaning with the new disc format it would've fit on 2 DVDs. So don't worry Carl. There won't be more than 3 DVDs for the 360 version of FFVersusXIII

It still would have required 3 Discs,  since they need duplicate information across each disc. .

yeah maybe some of them, but weren't the first 2 discs completely linear and these places inaccessible from the last disc ?
I don't know the exact data structure for each of these discs.

Doesn't even matter. You rightfully said duplicate information across each disc, so when the 3 disc version takes up under 15GB wouldn't the 2 disc version be even smaller ?
Again the only problem I see are the cutscenes since it would be foolish to split one of them.

EDIT: Or maybe you think the <15GB version already has the duplicate information removed ? Not impossible but I'm not quite sure if it would still work...

Sure the places may not,  but each character would have to be on each disc,  including any NPCs,  and monsters/enemies as well.

And yes this is me assuming that the full file size is 15GB without duplicate information.
