Someone creates something, they have exclusive rights to profit from it for a number of years, then it goes into the public domain for others to use and/or improve on. So what happened? Corporation decided this wasn't enough. Since they basically finance our elections (in the US at least), they get to re-write the rules. So they've basically decided that they will do everything they can so that their copyrights will NEVER expire. The last extension pushed out the date that any copyright could expire until 2019. So expect another extension sometime in the next 8 years. |
I think it will take as long as, by the time we are in power to revise this law, cause we are the only ones thaty get it.
