Sweet, can't wait to pick it up.
Namco are going to need to advertise this game if they want decent sales, this game needs to sell well so they can localise the Tales of Vesperia PS3 content =).
|
;) it aint coming. if anything graces sales will determine future games like xillia and prob ngp and 3ds tales games.
|
That's exactly what they said about Graces, don't be so cynical.
They have already made the full game for the Playstation 3, the only thing they need is English VA for the extra content.
I loved the game on the XBOX 360 but that extra content just teases me so much.
|
come on why release so many old games im not being cynical more realistic. Id rather them put money into a new game then a game we got.
|
Because the localized ToV would probably sell as much if not better than ToGF, the only difference is, ToV would take a lot less effort to localise.
|
Yea but alot people already played it on 360 no ones played graces or Xillia.
|
What's stopping them from getting the version with extra content? I myself have completed the game on the XBOX 360 2 times, if it comes out on the PS3 I wouldn't hesitate to complete it another 2 times.
And as I said before, the demand on the PS3 for a localised versino of ToV is huge, not many Tales fans own an XBOX 360.
|
How do you know alot of tales fans dont own a 360? what are you basing that off of. because symphonia is the best selling tales in america not a sony tales. and abyss and legendia didnt sale anywhere near as good as symonia in america. I actually believe that symphonia 2 and vesperia are above abyss and legendia in terms of american sales.
|
How do I know that most Tales fans don't own an XBOX 360? Simple.
The XBOX 360 is an American console and caters to a Western audience.
The PS3 is a Japanese console that caters to all audiences.
Most XBOX 360 owners just want to play Call of Duty and Halo online, that is the console's main audience, teenage kids who want to play online shooters. Just because you own an XBOX 360 and you enjoy Tales of Vesperia doesn't mean every single other XBOX 360 owner is the same. Like I said before, not only do the vast majority of XBOX 360 have no interest in the game, they have no respect for it either, and that's what pisses me off the most.
The sales of JRPG's speak for themselves. If you take a JRPG that hasn't had any of this timed exclusive or exclusive content bullshit and compare the sales, the PS3 would have a decent advantage in the West and the Japanese sales would bump the lead even higher. The only reason the XBOX 360 has a small Tales fanbase is because they were forced to buy an XBOX 360 when ToV was released as an exclusive.
And what makes you think I am saying that Tales series will only sell on SONY consoles? I mean ANY console. As you said, Symphonia sold the most and that was a Gamecube exclusive. The point I am trying to get across is that the XBOX 360 is the least JRPG friendly console on the market, mainly because it is the only successful console made in America.
It would be a bad business decision for Namco to release Tales of Graces on the XBOX 360 in the west. Playstation 3 is a no brainer because the game has already been coded to the PS3 in the Japanese release. The Wii would probably be a good platform to put it on aswell, Namco only need to port the content and there is a huge market for JRPG's on the the Wii.
|
Wow i get a warning for saying people ill still buy late exclusive but you say 360 owners have no respect for jrpgs. Your pissed off because you think 360 owners have no respect for jrpgs well theres plenty of people that i know personally who have plenty of jrpgs on the 360 and plenty of people on this site who have jrpgs for the 360 will you say that they dont respect the game i mean they bought it. and what makes a console jrpg friendly? the 360 is less friendldy to jrpg's because it is an american console um no if that was the case it wouldnt have as many of them as it does. tales fans werent forced to do anything and they obviously have a bigger fan base than they do on sony consoles as vesperia is the best selling console tales in ameica besides symphonia.
|
Wow, you still don't understand the term "the majority" do you. By "the majority", I don't mean everybody, I mean "THE MAJORITY".
I have already given you my little rant about how the XBOX 360 has led to the degredation of JRPG's and Japanese developers losing faith in the West with bribed exclusivity deals and poor sales. The only reason that Microsoft had these games on their platform in the first place was through foul play, that is why I resent Microsoft, not because I'm a fanboy. You honestly don't think Namco thought "So what system will we release this Japanese RPG on? ...I know! How about the console which has sold next to no units in Japan, and doesn't have a single Japanese developed game in its top 10 most selling games." Microsoft were playing their usual game, they must be better than everyone else so they will pay everyone off until they succeed.
Those Tales of Vesperia sales were forced, there was outrage in Japan when ToV was released on PS3, simply because that is the game that people bought the system for. I like to blame Namco Bandai for being sell-outs, but Microsoft shouldn't have been waving money under Namco's nose in the first place. It is the perfect way to piss of the Tales fanbase who expected it to be released on the console with more of a Japanese following.
The point I am trying to get across is that the XBOX 360 is no place for JRPG's. You may think I am being fanboyish or just stereotyping the majority of XBOX 360 owners, but if you wave Tales of Graces F under the typical XBOX 360 owners nose, his response would be "dat is gay, why would I wanna play dat?". Sadly, because of the exclusive deal that happened with Tales of Vesperia, there is a small yet very annoying circle of JRPG and XBOX 360 fanboys who are reluctant to buy a PS3 but they cry everytime a JRPG is exclusive to PS3 or even goes multiplatform. PS3 fanboys don't cry because they don't have Gears of War, because that game doesn't appeal to the PS3 fanbase, in the same way Tales of Graces won't appeal to the XBOX 360 fanbase.
I can assure you that Tales of Vesperia (XBOX 360 version) is NOT one of the best selling Tales games, VGChartz numbers seem to be going funky recently, but I believe Abyss and Symphonia have a huge lead over Tales of Vesperia, hell even Tales of Vesperia on the PS3 version (released well after the XBOX 360 version and only in Japan) is very close in sales, god knows what the Western sales would be like with a little bit of extra advertising.
I'll do a little summary for you, so you can see why I am so opposed to this.
- Tales of Vesperia was only on the XBOX 360 because of a paid exclusivity deal.
- Tales of Vesperia's low sales on the XBOX 360 has made Namco Bandai lose faith in Western audiences.
- This results in content and even whole games not being localised, ruining the fun for everyone.
- The only reason a Tales fanbase exists on the XBOX 360 was through forced sales (like me).
- This fanbase is still not big enough to justify another Tales game being on the XBOX 360.
- I believe that Tales of Graces should be on the Wii and even the handhelds before it is on the XBOX 360.
- PS3 and Wii versions of the game already exist in Japan, not on the XBOX 360.
- The extra time and money put into the XBOX 360 version of the game would never pay off.
Don't think I'm just being sour to XBOX 360 owners, I think that Mass Effect and Bulletstorm should have stayed exclusive to the XBOX 360, because the games suit that console. Making the PS3 versions only waste time, resulting in the game being delayed, and waste money which probably wouldn't pay off. But the same thing applies to Tales of Vesperia / Graces.
Let's just hope Namco Bandai advertise the game and PS3 owners support the Tales franchise and JRPG genre, or this little rant of mine would look very stupid.
Let's also hope that we see Tales of Vesperia and the localised content on both consoles.
