It sounds like your pc needs an upgrade. I think that video card doesn't have an mpeg encoder on board, so it forces all of the processing onto your cpu.
Using your existing hardware/software, I'd suggest splitting the signal between your tv and pc. Play on the tv and then you'll have the video on your pc so you can edit it.
