The vast majority of the world never knew it was a PS3 exclusive (unlike FFXIII, DMC 4, or Tekken 6), and look at how that turned out. So that doesn't really support what you're saying. Also, games like GTA & Red Dead did better on the 360 in the Americas, where it has the higher install base. Rockstar's games fair better on the 360 this gen. Claiming that you can't expect "good sales" from an exclusive is bollocks, as there are a great deal of exclusive franchises that crush your theory. Basically, you just didn't get what he meant and your point has no significance (once again) to the conversation. :) |
There is a big speculation in your first paragraph and I can't take it as an argument because you can't prove that, it's just what you think/believe. The fact is: It was a PS3 exclusive and now it's selling better on the x360.
Yes, there are great deal of exclusive franchises (like GTA & Microsoft) but it will never give you more money than "versions for all consoles" because your game will be able to be popular on all consoles and then you can release DLC, sequels and updates (like Super Street Fighter IV), you will have a larger userbase for your game/franchise and earn even more money. If you take the GTA & Microsoft case and do the math you will realise that an exclusive deal won't give you more money than release on all platforms, you will see that 50 millions isn't enough.
Basically, he has an answer to your question and I have one too (which is different), but I don't know why you are acting this way. :)
