Sony has a long list of enemies. Some are competitors, and some are people that Sony genuinely pissed off. Frankly they do have a lot of both. Sony doesn't just have a bad reputation with a lot of people. They genuinely earned most of the malice that is directed towards them. I am not going to go into a diatribe about all the bad acts, but trust me when I say there is a large group of people that truly despise Sony. There is a massive list of suspects. To go from a wide field to saying yeah this is the group to blame is entirely premature.

Anonymous while fairly amorphous never the less does tend to follow predictable patterns. They tend to show restraint with their acts, and they also want to project a positive public image. This attack was neither restrained, or liable to get them a good public image. They want the public on their side, or to at least hear their side of things. Basically their acts are a way for them to drum up attention for their cause of the moment. Then they move on to what they think is the next abomination. Anonymous just isn't likely to commit a truly heinous act that will not only turn the public against them, but leave a body count. They are more like Green Peace then they are Hammas.

That said Sony probably brought up the more likely culprit a few years ago when they said there was a Cabal of former users of their products that were intently out to get them. To be honest at the time I thought they were just deluded in thinking that there was some sort of organization hell bent on taking them down. However I suppose a venom filled pit festering for years could eventually spawn a fairly nasty group of hackers. What makes it more terrifying is that if this threat is genuine it would strike me as their planning was very advanced. That is something you do not cook up in the span of a month. That is years of monitoring, and unnoticed incursions.

Truly Anonymous would be a blessing in comparison. A dedicated group isn't going to stop, and frankly it might not even matter to them if they lose people in a war of attrition. Statements like these sound like either someone talking total bullshit, or someone sending a message scrolled in blood. Hell with success they may even get more brazen.
