Eternal Sonata annoyed me with its uneven difficulty. The game would be easy as hell for hours, requiring barely any effort to get through full dungeons, then suddenly you'd get put up against a boss that can take out your party members in two hits. Of course, you're not expecting this, so you die on your first try. Since the game still uses the archaic "die > main menu > load save" game over system, dying becomes all the more annoying.
While the game was absolutely beautiful, the story, etc. weren't good enough to get me to finish it. I would die on some boss and just say "f it". I'd go back a few months later, and the same thing would happen again.
Of course, if you're willing to look past minor issues like that, it's still an enjoyable game all around. The music is especially nice.
