Yes, a lot. Even in a gaming site like this one, with all it's teenage nerds and stuff, you can find a lot of people reading, so overall situation must be good.

Nerds typically read a lot. Maybe geeks aren't heavy readers, and definately some of the other stereotypes, like dorks, jocks, cheerleaders etc.
|
Maybe old school nerds that dabble in stuff like LOTR, Star Wars etc., but not this gen man. Just take for instance what most people here would consider as a game with a good story and interesting characters.
|
Nerds typically like to read a lot in order to be knowledgeable (and usually seruious literature, not speculative fiction). I think you're confusing them with geeks.
|
Nah, these are dweebs and communists I know a lot of them in the university. Nerds are the virgins who post on gaming sites and think Gordon Freeman is a memorable character, and geeks the ones that enjoy stuff like games and speculative fiction while still having a social life.

LOL, all these weird archtypes. I can't keep track of the mall.
"I don't understand how someone could like Tolstoy and Dostoyevsky, but not like Twilight!!!"
"Last book I read was Brokeback Mountain, I just don't have the patience for them unless it's softcore porn."
