I think RROD held 360 back a bit - although not maybe as much as you note. But we're talking about switching. Few people in the big picture switched due to RROD and I believe - could be wrong, time will tell - that few people will switch from PS3 due to this.
RROD did probably hurt 360 uptake for sure. Interestingly I don't think the PSN hack will hurt PS3 as much in terms of slowing uptake as RROD which is why, when the dust settles, in real terms the PSN hack will have had less impact than RROD in terms of cost/impact.
Now, if PSN gets hacked again short term or some other big issue... then all bets are off.
Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
