Anyways, your question is a little silly - the "optimal" setting for the ps3 controller in shooters is your preference. Mess with the settings and use what feels most comfortable. Don't force yourself to adapt to an uncomfortable button layout unless for some reason you really have to, though I guess that wouldn't be an uncommon situation since for some retarded ass reason, fully customizable button mapping is actually rare for consoles this gen. Really, it's stupid and I'll never understand it.
With all that being said, go with your own preferences, but to put in my 2 cents:
