Which controller setup is the best for PS3's FPS and TPS games?

I'm new to controller shooting games as I come from a Keyboard/mouse shooting game background like counterstrike and other old valve games like HL1 and ricochet.

I want to seek opinions on your optimal controller setup and the optimal preferred sensitivity on some of the PS3 TPS/FPS games like GTA IV.
