I'd say write an update in 6 months and see how you feel as a lot of your critiques are about your familiarility with the way the PS3 does things.  You can get the 360 to work great using streaming software on your PC also, might be worth looking into as it would increase the compatability for your PS3 too.  Other than that it's pretty much what I expected from someone who is used to gaming on the PS3 (controller issues, battery complaint (wtf), number of exclusives, etc, etc).

Nice write up though.

I think another thread of this type in 6 months a good idea. This is a first impressions thread, after all. Much of what I initially find odd and confusing may eventually turn to love and adoration. Who knows?

As for the streaming thing: I have no streaming issues with the PS3 at all, so that fact that I had any on 360 was an immediate turn off. I'm too lazy to look into solutions as I have an alternative, if you see what I mean. If my home videos didn't work on either machine, then I'd be looking for fixes if they could be found. Or, I'd just hook one of my PCs to my TV -- which, as I think on it, is probably what I'd do if the PS3 didn't stream them. I'm lazy like that. :D

Yeah I know when I read this as I have a similar feeling about my PS3.  I actually don't use it for anything other than Uncharted and Blurays, it does appear marginally better on compatability for xvids but there isn't a huge difference in my experience.  The streaming software I was referring to allows you to use your PC to convert on the fly so you can watch mkv's for example without having to convert to suitable formats.  It's not for everybody but I just mentioned it as it's handy for the PS3 too.

Also, you kind of get used to the barren periods at the start of the year as a 360 owner and then from September onwards you get bombarded and spoiled for choice.  This xmas might be very expensive given the number of Kinect titles (Dance Central 2 is a given obviously) and of course Gears 3.  I suspect you might yet be tempted by Forza 4 too when we see what they've done with both the physics and graphics engines.
