I had a 360 for about a year before I got a PS3.  My heart is with the 360.  Ypu had a PS3 foor a while before you got the 360.  Your heart is with the PS3.  I guess the truth (and arguably, the problem) is that the two have so much in common that whichever one you play first is the one you end up falling in love with.  The second will just feel like a "me too!" console.

I have to disagree. I bought my PS3 18 months after my 360, yet I consider my PS3 to be superior in pretty much every respect. I actually did not even realize many of the 360's disadvantages until I got my PS3 and had a comparison. (I have to admit though that severall issues have meanwhile been fixed with the release of the 360s (being loud and ugly as hell, missing WiFi etc.).

On the actual review:

Good work! It was interesting to see just how close your experiences/opinions are to mine. The only notable difference was your impression of the 360 controller: Although all in all I too prefer the PS3 Dualshock controller (because of motion sensor, lower weight, builtin batteries, Bluetooth, charging and using via USB, better D-Pad etc.), I actually love the 360 controller's large handles.

Glad you enjoyed the OP, and glad that others feel the same way I do about certain areas of the 360. I tried my best to cover all the primary points in a way I felt was as fair as possible. I reconsidered a few lines, and scaled a few of the comments up and down a little before I finally posted.

What I find most interesting is that you're a 360 owner first, yet have come to consider the PS3 to be a better machine -- that's kinda contrary to all the other posters in this thread so far. Are there more like you? Are there more the other way around (went from PS3 to 360, and came to prefer the 360?)?

As for the 360 controller, I must stress that I really do like it. It's, for me, just as good -- no better, no worse, on balance -- than the PS3 controller. It has advantages and disadvantages, and I've been playing with it for several years. It's my wife that has all the issues. :D

I am one of them. Got a PS3 approx a year later I got a 360(2007, 18 months after release), and I enjoy the PS3 more. The controller issues I had with the PS3 all changed into preferences later on as I slowly started to appreciate the d-pad and the rumble on the dualshock. The rumble especially is friggin amazing and better than the 360 rumble by a margin because of the varying degree of rumbles in games like Heavy Rain and MGS4 where the rumble will be so subtle in some areas it won't feel like a rumble. When solid snake moves from a higher ground to the lower ground for example, the soft thud is a lot well simulated on the DS3 than the xbox controller(I know MGS4 is not on 360 but I have yet to experience anything similar in other games). At first I used to think it was because of battery issues, the 360 unlike the DS3 automatically reduces the rumble when the battery is low but now I use wired controller on the 360 all the time and the rumble is still not as good.

But I agree that the trigger things on the PS3 is bad, but there's a workaround by using the R1 and L1 buttons instead. Its not perfect, but it works unlike the D-pad which in games like gears of war really is a problem.

I like the XMB more because of customization.

The avatar things I try to ignore every time I login.

That is pretty much it. There are a lot of advantages for me as a PS3 user (upgrade HDDs without paying $150, USB headset compatibility, bluetooth compatibility, Keyboard compatibilty, mouse compatibilty, free online gaming, saving of images on HDD through USB drive for future use) that I really like and I use as well.
