Meh, in a years time I don't expect to see many if any after effects, Sony's bank balance might get hurt, but to be honest, gamers will be better off in the long run. Better security on PSN, more vigilant consumers who use pre paid insted of credit cards ect.
This is a big deal, but unless a mass of people start seeing money withdrawn from their accounts, I think it's been overblown.
