Like i said this is common problem hard to sue a company that's not really at fault in this. Not like the people who sued MS for the RROD this is coursed by an outside problem not Sony.  Sites and Device(cellphones) get hacked all the time it's the sad state of the world wide web.

Not hard at all Sony had a duty to ensure that they protected the personnel data of the persons using the service. The fact that an outside force has broken into and stolen the information does not lessen the responsibility. The fact they broke in and took the data now raises a big question mark of whether they did indeed do enough to protect the data and it is this that will see them get sued. If individuals start coming forward and can prove it was as a direct result of the breach then that just makes for a bigger claim.

Now that your personal information potentially is publically available you are subject to cloning and other nasty things potentially for years to come as lot of this data is unique. The best outcome for one and all is that they track this down to the perps and can obtain an audit trail of what happened to the data. If they cannot do this then this information could be in the hands of people who know how to use such a goldmine of personal data and that is why governments have data protection laws and big fines to enforce them.
