I would absolutely rate Killzone 2 a 10 because it was a game unlike any other and kept me occupied for roughly 350 hours.
Sadly Killzone 3 is only half the game Killzone 2 is, so I was very dissappointed with Guerilla.
The bad:
-a departure for KZ2 dark atmosphere and art style.
-graphics are pretty much on the same level, though there are some rougher edges. And again the art style is less appealing.
-a story that I only fully understood after playing it 3 times, not because it was so intelligently shaped, but because the last part was cheap and rushed.
-they pretty much ruined the Warzone mode by having either too big maps or maps that where designed with Operations in mind and adding the gimmicky "vehicles" and mortar beacon shit. Removing spawn grenades andsquad spawning really removed a lot of the tactical aspects.
-because Warzone used to be a nice tactical mode with good map designs is was perfect for clan matches. KZ2 has a really great implementation of a clan system.
-they removed ranked custom games and server lists and proudly announced a new "team deathmatch" mode that really was already present in KZ2.
-the gimmicky melee system in multiplayer and reduced health that's fully regeneratable.
-unbalanced classes with invisible "snipers" with assault rifles, wallhack abilities for the tactician, easily destroyed turrets for the enigeer that shoot rockets, a medic that is difficult to use because people can spawn in 5 sec.
Really the game feels rushed as a whole and lacks in features. With the beta/demo just before launch the game really wasn't ready yet. Also they managed to remove features that were fought for during KZ2's time and that eventually got patched in. And they claim to listen to their users, well they went in the completely wrong direction anyway.
The good:
-Co-op.
-Rico is more fleshed out.
-there's some humour in there sometimes. helghast high command make me laugh because they look like nazis.
-Operations mode is pretty cool.
