I had heard somewheres that old systems were being used as 'dev-kits' and they were able to track that which led them to shut the servers down.

Now obviously don't quote me entirely on this claim, it was simply something I had either seen on google or the forums across various sites. Obviously if these hacked consoles are being traced as 'dev-kits' it's pretty much what you guys mentioned above. Being able to download free content etc. But at the same time - if the console was being read as a dev kit..would they have been able to release custom patches for various games like Socom 4 and Mortal Kombat?

It's all really a big mystery at this point and time until there's official word from Sony. I'm not freaking out about whether any of my account information was breached or not, I just don't need stress like that right now. I'm sure being patient will pay off in the end, and we'll be getting some of the answers we're looking for very soon.
