750 million...
So thats 2.5 books a year per person.
Not bad actually considering that's not the only way to read books.
I mean... i read tons of books. Though from the library, or public domain online.
Edit: By the way... http://www.gutenberg.org/wiki/Main_Page
Edit 2: I do buy books too but usually only in rare cases of books I really enjoy AND can use as source matieral /things other people might find interesting. Like the Malcolm Gladwell books and Freakanomics.

That may actually be skewed. When they say books, do they also include school books? If so then a huge number of that are just books people need for school, and not ones where people just sit down and read for the enjoyment of it.

I'd guess it was books books.... I mean looking at other numbers, it's put in the BILLIONS range.

Unless the book market has shrunk so much in a couple of years. Unlikely to say the least.
Looking at these numbers i'm wondering where then 750 million came from.
