Single-player only, Vanquish walks away with this, and it craps all over everything else this generation has put out. There is no effective comparison. Uncharted 2's combat isn't good enough, Mass Effect 2's mechanics aren't up to snuff, Gears isn't extreme enough, Resident Evil 5 isn't even in the running.

But if you include multiplayer? Gears 2 co-op and Horde mode makes it the best this gen so far. I expect Gears 3 will topple it. I hope it will. Nothing else has much of a chance.


Honestly thats the amazing thing about Gears 3 it plays quite a bit different than the first 2.  Its similar for sure but they've made so many minor tweaks and perfections it changes the overall feeling drastically, and in the best possible way.

And I've played and LOVED Vanquish but Gears 3 is just phenominal, even when compared to others Gears games.
