http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mafia_II ----link. So what went wrong with this game? To me,when a game fails to catch on is more interesting, then when a game is successful and showered with praises. The game's been on the market for a little under 8 months and has sold about 1.8 million between the PS3 and Xbox 360 version. I bought it for $24 and I'm on chapter 10 out of 14. I'm loving the game so far. So why was'nt this game that big of a success? I think it's for a number of reason's. First off the game is pretty straight forward, besides the main story missions, the only things you can do is fix up your car,buy clothes and find playboy cover's and wanted poster's. In today's day and age people just expected more variety for these sand box type of games. If you don't care about the story, then there's no reason to put time into the game. They added DLC and a leaderboard type thing, but again I don't think anybody want's a leaderboard for single player. This is'nt the arcade days. The other thing that went wrong is that 2k games handed off the ps3 version to another company and it was an inferior port. To me this really doesn't matter, but to alot of people it does. So this caused some loss sales right there. So in conclusion,It's a good game in my opinion, but with the lack of any variety outside the story missions, the ps3 port fiasco, and no multiplayer to speak of,this game just did'nt catch on.
