Name one thing the US has recently used it's "#1 status" to do, to tip things vastly in their favor that doesn't benefit europe almost as much to where it is orth it to spend tons of money to get slightly more benefit.

If we were more amoral, it could have more benefits. Imperialism has diminishing returns when you're not willing to just pillage the lands you conquer, but of course that would lend more credence to guys like Chavez who think we're doing that anyway (which we are, but on a level that is nowhere near comparable to previous Empires)
