What a weird ass situation. So the Wii 2 launches in 2012... and the ps4 and xbox720 release 2-3 years later? Literally, that's like the coming of a completely new generation. And I have no doubt Sony and Microsoft will play it off as such to make the Wii 2 look 'last gen' (which will kinda be true I guess)
I think that might be the best strategy for MS and Sony. And for their sake, hopefully the Wii2 is somewhere in the same ballpark as the ps3/360 graphically as it would simply add to the current 3rd party development pool as opposed to take away from it.
