Whenever I need a break from my favorite genres. As an example, back when the PS2/GC was out, I needed a break from the endless RPGs and Action games, so I decided to give Resident Evil Remake a try. And it turned out to be one of the best games I had played in years. Then just about 3 months ago, I decided to get a PS3 because I needed a break from the nedless RPGs and platformer titles on Wii and DS. And games like Assassins Creed and Batman: Arkham Asylum became some of my favorite of all time.
In short, I step outside my comfort zone once in a while, usually with positive results.
