Please not another thread derailed by GT5 sales. Btw why compare GT5 to GT4? If you want to make a valid comparison then you'll have to compare its sales to GT3 cause the first iteration of a franchise on a new HW is always selling better. The same goes for FFXIII...

You know GT3 was bundled with every PS2 in US... EMEAA and Japan numbers are similar between GT3 and GT4... just Americas was crazy huge in GT3 because that bundles.

There are no change to comparte GT5 in Americas with GT3 in Americas.

Doesnt change the fact that every new iteration of an established franchise on a new HW sells better. So in the end it would be more appropriate to compare GT5 to GT3, FFXIII to FFX, MGS4 to MGS2, etc.

It is just common knowledge for any experienced VGC member. Some posters here (won't mention any names), even if they know that as a fact, won't ever recognize it cause it could makes their favorite games look bad in terms of sales.

Dont' get me wrong, there are some very good example of successful franchise this gen (Halo, Uncharted, Mario Kart, New Super Mario Bros., Dragon Quest and even God of War) but some others are just failing to sell as good as it did in the past and some people should just realize that.

Sorry but what you said is not a fact.

1. GT5 is the first game this gen... Prologue was.

2. GT3 is heavy bundled... GT5 not... it's like compare any game with Wii Sports.

3. GT5 is selling better than GT3 except Japan (GT5 is bad here) and Americas (GT3 is bundled here).

1. Prologue was a DEMO, so yeah GT5 was indeed the first iteration of the current gen.

2. I didnt know GT3 was bundled like Wii Sports was...If that was the case then why its sales are not over 100M units sold?

3. If I get your point, you're saying GT5 is only selling better in a couple of european countries than GT3. So in the end GT3 sold way better than GT5 worldwide.

Now is it easier to compare GT5 to GT4 because of the data accessibility? Yes. Is it relevant to do so? No, unless you ignore the whole concept of a first iteration on new HW, which would be like ignoring how video games sales are working.

Taking that into account, GT5 sales arent impressive at all. It's sad but it's still the reality.
