That's how their relationship has been...they did all the previews for Left 4 Dead at Valve headquarters, and all the CS: Source stuff went through Valve. It was really just the next logical step. Perhaps Turtle Rock felt like being more independent for a while, but now, coming near Left 4 Dead's release, an acquistion is good press, and it'll help get the game done as well.

 Yeah, i agree.  I can't wait for Left 4 Dead myself.
