Incorrect. The chance to set a precedent would be invaluable to all of our rights had Sony lost the case, minimizing the risk of similar cases breaking out in the future. Of course, looking at this judge's complete ignorance of how technology works, this may be for the best...

He meant that the outcome of this case has no long-term impact on those matters, though i agree that it could have, which is why i'm mad at Hotz for backing down, but ultimately only one consumer's right to tamper with his legally owned property was effected, and he voluntarily gave up that right in a manner in which he is actually able to do so (agreeing to a Terms of Service does NOT count, people), so we're back where we started
