More importantly, the risk of 9/11 is unchanged by this security, because it's been shown that a sufficiently determined person can hide things while going through the scanner.

Ever heard of a casual terrorist, like they're going through the scanner and it beeps and they pull out a gun and he's like 'You got me, but I didn't want to hide it REALLY well cos I'm not srs".

You actually do have a point. The scanners are not the be all and end all of security. At best they should only be used as part of a larger system, they shouldn't be too relied upon.
