you are both fricken correct.  Geohotz coudln't care less about you and I, but what he was being sued for the reprecussions do affect consumer rights.  So it don't matter if he is mother teresa or the biggest prick in the world.  if sony were to have tacken this to court and won in what was originally brought up.  it would have been a sad day for consumers.

so what is sony MADE the ps3.  Was geohotz RENTING it?  pretty sure he bought the ps3.  If he wants to buy it take it out the store and smash it he can.  If he wants to take it apart and build a robot dog with the parts, he can.  If he wants to install windows 98 on it, he can.  If he wants to turn it into a bomb he can.  now the gov't might not like him making a bomb, but the ps3 and sony have nothing to do with that.

so until you show me geohotz doing something Illegal, like breaking into psn or anything that is messing with something of SONY'S, i have no angst against geohotz.  he can't be held liable for pirates taking advantage of something he did with no intention of piracy. 

should a boat maker be held responsible for a group of people that use it for piracy?
