"Everyone says that eventually the novelty will wear off, right? I think that a lot of the people that are buying that console today are not people that have generally bought consoles in the past, right?

You see they're not buying games on it, right? They're buying it, it's like something they break out when people come over, and it's maybe a fun thing, but it's almost like the same people that buy a karaoke machine, you know? They're not really buying it for games, they're just buying it as a novelty."

“LOL’ing at sales reports from VGChartz, why do people release info as official when there is no source or science behind the #s?”

'Just in from research team (NPD): Halo 3 has outsold Resistance 1 2, Uncharted 1 2, Killzone 2 and God of War III COMBINED....wow'

'I know a lot of folks enjoy watching the console wars and we would never underestimate our competition. But answer to your question specifically, didn't Sony promise all of this last year including Home as well? We have been fighting Sony's promises from the day we entered the market and if you remember at that time it was all about PS2 being an online cybercity with partner announcements from the likes of RealNetworks and AOL. Then three years ago at E3 they showed what PS3 games would supposedly look like with the Killzone 2 video, that we are now learning will ship four years later. That means that we will have shipped Gears of War and Gears of War 2 before they can even get Killzone out the door. Think back to GDC 2007 when Sony promised to leap ahead in online with the Sony Home unveil. Here we are two years later and multiple delays for a product that has appears to have little to no buzz. Where are the achievements? The friends list integration across all games? Where is the long-promised video store? Where are all the other products using and networking with their CELL chip? How come Blu-ray did not result in better games? What happened with Sixaxis and rumble? Where is the complete 1080p game library we were promised? If Blu-ray as they said would be such a catalyst to PS3 console sales, then why have PS3 sales over the past couple months not seen any lift since the format victory?'

In reference to the Move: "To me it looked similar to the Wii experience. You hold a remote or a wand: it looked very derivative of that - similar to other products on the market today"

"Is it launching next year?" he joked about the PS3-exclusive Polyphony Digital racer, speaking in an interview with Gamasutra.

"I've seen years and years of mini-games, but I haven't seen that the game is done. They just released the PSP version - maybe that's what they've been working on. I feel confident that there's nothing that will compare in size. Halo: Reach will be the biggest game of 2010."

Come on Seece, Greenberg is just as bad and I bet I can find just as many, if not worse, quotes from Reggie in regards to the 360, Iphone, PS3 and PSP. They all have their moments. From 2008 to 2010, Greenberg was the biggest dickhead around. Tretton held the title from 2006 to 2008 and Reggie seems to just go off at random whenever he wants.

The only reason these statements are overblown as they are by gaming forums, is because it's an easy and fast way to get in a quick kick in all this console war bullshit.

Apples and oranges.

You have proved the point... having just spent some time finding quotes from Mr Greenberg all you found was the usual PR "ours is better than theirs"...  thats nothing... its expected.

What isn't expected is to say that people over the age of 20 that buy and use a 3DS have no self repect... thats a new low and sounds desperate, unprofessional and is extremely insulting.  You dont slag off the public, slag off the competition by all means... but not a potential customer, thats just incredibly stupid.

Indeed, you expect nothing less from PR to big up their products over their competitors, not to outrightly insult it and it's customers though. Still waiting to see if Greenberg has ever done this ...

I never wrote he have sunken so low against users (although I could have written my point more crearly the first time), but that in the past he managed to be worse than Tretton against competitors. Doobie Wop found some examples, one even not against competitors, but against this site, but just google "Greenberg", "attacks" (or any other word suitable for what we're looking for, "douche" gave me a lot of results, for example  ) and "Sony" or "Nintendo" and you can find more.

^^

Look, he even said that Wii gamers are actually using a karaoke machine, not a console!    But yes, even this dig, not only at Wii, but also at its users, is not as bad as the last Tretton's  sorry figure.

Anyhow, I'll write it again, in the last times he became quite a nice guy, doing his work effectively without having to insult other companies and products (weeks ago I actually even defended him in a thread where some attacked him for a boastful but totally acceptable PR statement).
