I had the chance to support a new series today at an expo, it's called The Chronicles of King Rolens Kin and I decided to buy the trilogy right on the spot and the author was happy enough to sign them all. She's an Australian author and I'd never heard of the book before, but the cover looked decent and the blurb sold me on it. I haven't started reading it yet, still got heaps of books in my backlog, but I always think it's good when people try and support smaller authors.

I also had the chance to meet Robin Hobb, she's a nice lady, though I'm not a huge fun of her work.

Just a note, but I'm really liking the trend of releasing trilogies all at once, Brent Weeks was the first time I saw it done and he was extremely successful and I've noticed that a lot of newer authors are follwing the same route. One of the worst things in the world is having to wait three to five years (sometimes much more) just for a sequel to release.

I also got to meet Tiffany Grant, the voice actor for Asuka from Neon Genesis Evangelion and Mike McFarland, who is well known for voicing Master Roshi and Jean Havoc. Both of them are very nice people, Tiffany sounds exactly like Asuka and Mike is just ridiculous in his range. They both signed a Neon Genesis Evangelion poster for me and I got them to sign the back of my I-Pad cover (didn't have anything else on me, didn't know they were going to be there).

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.
