Wow, who would'ave thought the Kinect effect would wear off so quickly. Hmmm so it was a fad all along huh?

The thing is, during Q2, the Xbox 360 is getting near 75 games released to the Wii's ~25 and it is somehow below in WW sales. Of course, the Wii has Japan for its benefit, but the 360 is getting more games there too haha.

Kinect advertising is wearing out because there are no new games that utilize the peripheral. For the past 6 months, the only thing getting it off shelves has probably been Dance Central and the Kinect Sports it was bundled with. Nothing even remotely appealing that supports Kinect has dropped since.

The Kinect games argument doesn't completely hold.  Just this week the Wii Balance Board surpassed Kinect in WW sales.  We all know that Wii Balance Board doesn't exactly have many games for it.  Kinect has plenty of fitness games to compete with Wii Balance Board, so what gives?  Wii Fit has never had the kind of sales slow-down that Kinect is experiencing.

The real problem with Kinect is that it is too expensive.  The early adopters ate it up, but not everyone was convinced by this product.   The skeptical hardcore gamers along with true casuals are  still balking at the price.  Most of the people adopting Kinect are buying it from bundles right now.  If M$ could lower the price-point of Kinect along with increasing the quantity and quality of games being released they would probably have much higher sales figures.   Until Kinect is priced at a lower impulse buy price (probably $100 and below), I don't see it replicating the sales figures of 2010.

Most anticipated games of 2011:

Uncharted 3,Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Rocksmith

Modern Warfare 3, Super Mario 3D
