My definition of art is broad and refers to any cultural object that speaks about a specific cultural context of creation and that can be "read" (sorry, not native) in lots of interpretations, determined once again for the subjectivity of the "reader" or art "receptor". Therefore, RPGs as a genre are definitely art but if you push my definition to the limits, every single game is art.

Now, I know people use a diferent dictionary, one that specifies that art can not be entertainment. I lol from your definition. Really hard. And I want to state that I think a life in which art and entertainment cannot go together is a life without magic. Pity you.

whoever uses the second definition that art can not be entertainment is, please excuse my language, a fucking idiot.  i just cant grasp how anyone could think that.  do we not pursue art for our own entertainment?  that definition just seems to contradict itself in so many ways.  sorry for that rant but that just blows my mind.  getting to your first big though, i do agree that rpgs as a genre are definitely art.  they are my favorite genre because of that art.
