He hacked the PS3, thereby breaching Sony's copyright laws. And when he got arrested, he decided to upload all of his material to the Internet. And your sarcasm is unappreciated. 

Sony gave them the tools to do this by enabling Linux open source through firmware, he just used it to enable a mode that isn't publicly available, sorry but downgrading your PS3 to basically debug mode is not illegal. Please know what you are talking about before posting it.
