I still cannot fathom how people are so angry with Sony over all of this.  Sony HAD to respond to what was going on.  On one side they had 3rd Party companies talking about how bad it was to the media (I remember reading an EA (I think it was) press release about how devastating the PS3 hacks could be) and on the otherhand you have very concerned Stock Holders.  They had to at least try.

Most of their lawsuits are just plain Silly and really should never have been allowed in court, let alone ruled in their favor.  Once one suit was allowed, why not keep going?  If the court is "sympathetic" to large Corporation A, let us keep pressing our advantage.  Hell, Sony would have been STUPID not to do have pushed the envelope here.

The only thing Sony has done recently to me, that has really irked me, was the removal of Other OS.  This feature missing from the new Slims does not bother me, it is the removal from my Phat 60gig.

The problem with people like Geo is not what they are doing, it is how people use what they have done.  There is nothing worse than running into Map Hackers in any multiplayer game.

Be Angry at the US Court System, not at Sony.

I do not recommend that anyone sticks their penis into a hornet's nest.  This sounds painful.

I'd love to know what this post said before it was edited ;)

I posted it on your wall :)

Sony had a range of responses at their disposal, they willfully chose the one to trample consumer rights. From that point on, they've lost all sympathy as a company just trying to defend their products, much like any violation of rights in the name of security should be frowned upon

Um, I don't know if you realized this, but you agreed to a terms of service. Where in the TOS did it say that you were allowed to pirate games and such? Oh yeah, that's right, NOWHERE. And don't even give me that BS about "consumer rights" or the belief that SO many people used the Other OS feature. And then there's the idea that the jailbreak is being used for anything other than piracy. I mean, seriously, what did you all expect? What options were part of this "range of responses," hm? And then there's these guys, supposedly standing up for our rights whilst TAKING AWAY PSN for who knows how long. The fact that some of you can sit here and defend their actions is more than baffling.

They should have dealt with the piracy. That was their option, but instead they decided to try to change legal precedent by assaulting people's rights and attacking the coders, who are doing things that are perfectly legal

If anything, Sony should be countersued for harrassing their customers. Hopefully at the end of this they'll be made to reimburse Hotz' legal fees, or something...

Wow, is there something seriously wrong with you? Legal? Assaulting people's rights? The only people they supposedly "assaulted" are the two hackers. And this IS dealing with piracy. They are protecting their product. The software on the console is licensed. I reiterate, YOU DO NOT OWN THE OPERATING SYSTEM. So modifying it in any way shape or form, especially in a way that completely opens the door to piracy, is illegal. And the only people harassing customers are the hackers who just took down PSN when supposedly asserting our rights. Really, where do they make idiots like yourself?
