The PS2 analog stick is simply terrible and inaccurate. It doesn't help that most developers only made use of two degrees of pressure, so you can either walk or run with nothing inbetween. When it comes to aiming, it's hard to be precise and fast at the same time, if you can move the reticule only either fast or slow which is the case in the PS2 version of RE4.

The aiming in RE5 is just as good as in the GC version of RE4, but that still doesn't make RE5 the better game out of the two.

Then i guess the PS2 version kinda ruined the gameplay for me for RE4 but i loved the story thats for sure.  I just like RE5 for the 'better controls' and co-op =P  I hope Capcom can fix this issue for the HD remake, but knowing Capcom i seriously doubt it.
