What I was going to write got deleted. Fail.
But I am sure someone else will come up with the same answer I was going to write, hopefully. Many of the things you wrote are either half-correct or completely wrong, for eg. Online performance. Watch the video I posted, if you have online problems its probably because you are using wireless or because you are using a fail internet. I had better results with PSN then XBL.
Patches? Patches in my opinion is the biggest strength of PSN, if you look at games like MAG and Heavy Rain(has a 1 GB move patch) they have incredible amounts of patches but they are very useful which is
wait for it.......
impossible on XBL. Yeah, so you can just put in your disc and ignore your PS3 for some time(I however agree with MGS4, it doesn't use the PSN architecture for patching, and even I have never played an online MGS game for the same reason).
There are additional benefits to PSN because its open, we are getting a version of Portal 2 that's much closer to PC. We have free PSN themes. We can make custom themes ourselves for free. We have dynamic themes that look a lot better than the best themes on XBL. We can't make them, BUT the best part is PS plus users get many of these goodies along with avatars for free. And its theirs forever. Not a rental There's less options, yes, but the choices have improved greatly and its much cheaper on PS plus then XBL. There's a 38 MvC avatar bundle coming up for PS plus for $3 or $4, can't remember.
There are many advantages of using a PSN, people just don't know it. Yes, I said it! True skill? Killzone 2 has it, Demon's Souls has it so its not exactly exclusive to XBL, and nevermind the fact that it doesn't work properly on the 360 since Gears of war 1 was supposed to have it but it never used it in my case, I always got matched up with the top dogs.

1. Nah, I'm using Internet provided by the phone company and even though my PS3 and 360 both support WiFi, I'm wired in. The only reason I have a home phone at all is because that's the only way I can get really good internet. I'll go back to my PSN history and tell you exactly which gamers from this site couldn't play with me on the PSN.
2. I'll wait and see how the Steam integration plays out. It should be awesome. I loved Portal. Hopefully everyone that will be touting Portal and Steam will actually buy Portal or use steam. I hope it's not like how everyone brags about Killzone's 3D without actually having a 3D TV.
3. There's free themes and pics on XBL, too. I tried not to name things that both services do the same......and how do you make themes? If you mean wallpapers, XBL supports that, too. I've even taken the Wallpaper of Heavenly Sword from the PSN, copied it to my PSP, and put it on my Xbox! The Xbox supports the PSP's content just like the PS3 supports Xbox's Live Vision Camera (used it to video chat with my sis on the PS3 a few days ago--worked like a dream!)

Nowhere near as many as PSN. PSN has at least a hundred free themes, at least. It doesn't have free avatars, but PS plus has it.
And you can make themes. Icons and stuff, not just wallpapers, and you can put multiple wallpapers that keep changing like 5,6,7 any number that you want. Maybe even 100. It will change every time you log in or quit a game or an application.
Its free as well, and its official.
EDIT: lol I am not sure why I am talking about free themes, there are tons of free themes out there on internet made by other people that are great. And they are free, they are not always high quality and may not always suit your tastes, but that's where dynamic themes and custom themes come into play.
