As a stand alone game I give it a 6 outta 10.   The battle system was pretty good...and although it was a bit frustrating because I expirienced alot of that "try to overdive kill but land in another soldier and miss the chance" stuff as well, it didn't matter too much.  There was only one level where the "red orbs" bothered me, and after I figured out you just had to battle the Twisted until reinforcements came that allowed you access to the level they were on it wasn't that big of an issue.  The characters weren't properly built up via the story and rely heavily on the files in the computer database to tell you about their pasts.  Before you even really learn about who they are they are dead.  Chapters begin and end sort of randomly and the idea that the future has been changed by the past isn't fully developed.

As a part of the Parasite Eve series I give it a 0 out of 10.  Other than using characters from the previous titles, this game has nothing to do with the elements of the story that got me hooked on the series.  The first two games where heavily Sci-fi based and both revolved around the idea of our mitochondria evolving...this has nothing to do with that at all.  Never even mentions the concept.  Instead goes off on something that is more fantasy based and almost spiritual in nature...which would be fine if the game was detatched from the first two games, but its not.  The whole theme on time travel and changing history is out of place in the series, which its alright to add new ideas to an old series, but then to not offer a link to the previous concepts is just stupid.   Also the characters "borrowed" from the Parasite Eve games could have just as easily been replaced by new characters and not effected the game at all.  I say they are borrowed because its almost like they aren't even the same characters as the ones from PE1 and 2, even personality wise.  Maeda didn't appear that perverted in the first game and Aya wasn't that helpless around her surperiors either.  Its like they wanted tomake a new game but wanted to make sure it sold so they recycled old characters, rather than focusing on a true sequel.  I think this game made a lousy sequal to the first two, but an alright game on its own.

Actually the two first games are more Horror based than Sci-Fi, especially the first one. Not saying anything wrong about the rest of your opinion, just correcting that part.
