Apple's next iPad could be 3D but I really either don't believe the OP heard it correctly or either the politician was misinformed.
There's no chance in Hell they would let someone have one out in the wild so soon unless they were directly affiliated with Apple, and even then it wouldn't be someone you'd ever see on TV. Also, the iPad 2 was just released and I doubt they have the newer model that far ahead yet.
