His an independent developer, he can say, do or burn whatever he wants. He has no obligation to suck up to anyone. His points are also solid. Nintendo have demos for only a few titles and even those are only temporary, the system is absolute bullshit and it's one of the reasons they're so far behind with their network. He also has around six other better platforms to develop for, he'd probably like to release his game on the Wii, but he knows his efforts will be worthless and so like many other 'talented' small developers, he avoids the system like the plague. Why jump through several hoops to be a part of a network that most likely won't help the sales of his game? I'll also point out that deciding not to work on a system does not mean that developer is a fanboy, these guys aren't forum warriors, they run businesses, make friends and sign contracts within the industry. Nintendo are being difficult to small developers, so those developers will critisize and avoid the platform. Why develop for a publisher who obviously doesn't give a shit about your product, your team or their own system? |
Not really. Indie devs are still in a market that they rely on the hardware makers. Pissing one off bodes poorly. He talks about buidling an entirely different game for the 3DS. Not if Nintendo says "Hey remember what you said to us a few months back?" and denies them a dev kit.
That's the problem with society these days. People think they can just say whatever they feel like without consequence. This is why I like the main bad guy from the Saw movies. He finds these people and kills them. It's a good policy. =)
