Oh, I played the original. I also played CoD4/MW and every Halo game through ODST. I've played A BUNCH of shooters this generation. A few have been difficult (I usually play one step over medium on the first playthrough, whatever that ends up being) but most seem to slowly be getting easier and easier. Considering that at one point I used to play Counter-Strike competitively but there were moments where games like Half-Life or AvP completely kicked my ass, I know it's not because I'm some sort of FPS champion of the world (and certainly not with a controller).
I think developers are dumbing down a lot of console shooters to appeal to a wider audience.
