They will not change the drive. That would be way too costly and would split the userbase even further. Imagine games coming out only for those who have the new drive. that would be suicide.

Making the drive read another layer of DVD's, however, would be very possible.

Sony could do the same with their PS3's, making the drive read more layers of a Blu-Ray, however, nobody needed that as of now, 50GB is more than enough.

Just 1 GB more is a bit dissapointing, though. By today's standards, that is really low.

Btw. many games don't even fill up the 7.30GB (or come close to it).

 

Crysis 2 for example is only 5GB, Fallout New Vegas under 5GB, Assassin's Creed 2 4.5GB etc.

Not to mention that these games also offer multiple languages, but notice how every one of them use in-game cutscenes.

I don't know where got that from, but all 3 games are well over 6.5 GB big. Most games are actually scratching at the limit.
