I also didn't like Yuna at first; her bravery attacks kind of sucked, and her HP attack can be easily dodged. But once I unlocked a few moves, I started to like her. Same with Laguna.
As for the story, it's practically non-existant and doesn't further develop/explore the stories and characters. **SMALL SPOILER ALERT** Like for Yuna, I thought it was interesting that Tidus didn't know about Yuna or any of the pilgrimage. It had a lot of potential. Instead, the story for Yuna was: small talk with Jecht, fight, fight, fight, small talk with Zidane, fight, fight, and then you finally had the two of them together (but he got knock out). If there's more story with Yuna, I hope they further explore why Tidus doesn't remember anything.
