Uncharted: Drake's Fortune: I didn't know about Uncharted until a friend lent me a copy of his during late 2007 and I really wasn't expecting anything much from it and Naughty Dog lost my love during the PS2 era with Jak and Daxter so at first I was a bit skeptical to play it but I decided to give it a shot because afterall, Naughty Dog were the ones who got me hooked into Gaming back when I was young due to Crash Bandicoot. So I played it and it was great to play. I liked Uncharted but wasn't quite to my 100% likings. Back in 2007 I loved Resistance:FOM over Uncharted. Then Uncharted 2 came along... and blew my mind and that was when ND recaptured my upmost love and attention.
LittleBigPlanet: I remember one of my very first topics I started here at VGC was me praising and celebrating how fantastic LBP was back in Mid 2009. I am a big platformer games fan but I wasn't too sure on LBP. But what got me into buying it was the demo that was released and the day after playing the demo I went out to the stores and bought myself a copy of LBP. A demo was all I needed and no other friend had LBP and the demo MM released was all I needed. This was one of the reasons why I trust demos a lot and demos definitely help me determine whether to buy a game or not and LBP was a must buy for me.
Assassin's Creed II: After a disappointing AC I, I really didn't have intentions of buying AC II at all. When it went on sale for half price and when a friend told me you must buy it, I trusted him and bought and a decision well made by me to buy it. Everything was just so much better than AC I and completely got me hooked into the AC Universe and the AC Series itself, which led me into buying the Limited Codex Edition of AC Brotherhood Day 1 last year, which eventually became my GOTY 2010. Also Assassin's Creed is my second favorite new IP for this Gen behind Uncharted.
Dragon Age Origins: I thank the VGC community for pursuading me to buy Dragon Age Origins. I hardly ever played WRPGs previously but DAO was just fanstastic. It opened me up to WRPGs, opened me up to BioWare and the ME series. Hence it led me to buying the Signature Edition of DA II on Day 1.
Red Dead Redemption: Like I've explained for the past 10 times, I didn't even know that RDR even existed until APril 2010, a month before it's release date. My brother showed me a trailer of it and hyped it up but I wasn't convinced since I thought it would turn out to be as boring as GTA IV and it was also a Western themed game, which I had no intentions of playing. My brother wanted it so much and I did buy it for him on launch day and thank god I bought it. Absolutely stunning and exemplary game. It was so damn good that it was my 3rd Favorite game of 2010 and even ahead of games I loved so much and had a long history with each franchise, FF XIII and GT5. Brilliant game that deserved all the GOTY awards it receieved last year.
