It would not have a chance in hell running on my laptop with 1.6ghz pentium and 1gb ram. My xp laptop boots faster then my wife's 2.3ghz i3 laptop with 4gb ram and win7, that's progress :)

Well, there's an issue with your setup then. I had an old machine that I installed windows 7 on and gave away.. I believe it was an Athlon 3000 (those were what, 1.8ghz?) w/1gb of ram - And it worked great. Booted fast. Gave the machine new life. New owner only needed it to watch netflix and play simple games like bejeweled, but win Win7 is flies. If your 2.3ghz laptop with 4gb of ram has any hiccups at all with Win7, you need to remove some stuff from startup.

It's running fine on the 2.3ghz laptop, it just takes longer to boot then xp, then it flies. She always uses the suspend feature anyway which is faster then xp's, until some update makes it reboot.

I wonder how it works with 1gb ram. I just checked, clean boot, 893mb in use, and I removed all the crap that came installed with it. (ok it launches msn messenger substract 22mb) 1.08gb now 1 minute later and a new updates are available icon, figures. My old laptop starts to really grind when it goes over 1gb ram committed and starts disk caching on a 5400 rpm laptop hdd.

I guess with a desktop hdd and bejeweled or netflix it should be fine. Not on my laptop though, firefox and plugin container have 265mb ram in use atm, together with win 7 no fit.
