@Scottie: I know this is totally off the original topic...but...if you use your laptop a lot and place it on cloth/textile/dusty surfaces--or just have a dusty house with lots of rugs--have you cleaned out your fans/heat sink(s) recently?
That being said, I've got a hand-me-down Fujitsu from my mom's office, and there's a number of issues that I have with it (some of which I share with Macs, such as not easily torn down for cleaning, etc) but just because there are cheap brands that doesn't justify going on the other end of the spectrum as saying macs must be a diety in hardware form. My personal feeling is that sure macs are well done, but they are still way over priced for what they are. And that goes for most all of their products in my mind. Same reason why I can't justify owning multiple consoles and handhelds that all cost so much. I'm a poor student, sure, but at the core I'm frugal and I don't know if that'll change regardless of how much I eventually make. But to each his own, and I've made a few large (excessive) purchases for non-tech items that I really wanted. Still, the media does over-glorify them...
