Since its inception, the videogame industry has been focused on meeting the needs of videogame journalists and/or the gamers they represent. Nintendo realized that between "casual" gamers, lapsed gamers, adult non-gamers, and children the vast majority of gamers (and potential gamers) were not having their needs met and decided to focus on those gamers rather than the videogame journalists (and the gamers they represent). As a result of this, much like a teenager who has been spoiled and finally their parents say no to them, the videogame journalists have been throwing a tantrum like a 3 year old.
