A multiplayer Silent Hill game separate from Silent Hill: Downpour is in the works for Xbox Live Arcade, said Downpour's art director Radek Marek.

That's according to Helldecent, who reports Marek revealed plans for the standalone XBLA game during an interview with the Italian Xbox 360 Magazine.

When quizzed on the possibility of multiplayer in Downpour, Marek apparently told the magazine: "At the moment there will be no multiplayer modes in Silent Hill: Downpour, but Konami are investigating a separate chapter devoted entirely to the Multiplayer."

He went on to reveal: "We do not know the details but it should be an XBLA title that most players have to survive in the town of Silent Hill."

It sounds like an entirely standalone title, and almost like a co-op survival game. That would make more sense than a brainless deathmatch mode.
