I certainly was far from crying from that scene but it certainly did affect me. Its very strong when you actually think about it.
Could you imagine searching for your wife or kids for so long not knowing whether they were dead or alive and then finally finding her and she's so tortured and mentally broken that she can't even remember you or who she is? And then having to put her out of her misery? Powerful and sad stuff.
Obviously its Gears of War and its not going to be incredibly well written prose but I though it was done well and was pretty darn sad.
