7. Mega Man 6 & 7: Okay, 6 more than 7, but I see these games often treated as weak games just because people were getting sick of all the sequels. Now I can understand that sentiment, but that just means the formula is getting tired, not that the games themselves are bad. They are still some of the more polished games of the main MM, and even the X series.

I didn't dislike Mega Man 6 and 7 (and 5) because I thought the formula was getting tired. I disliked them because...

A) The robot masters were just plain dumb for the most part. (Charge Man? Junk Man? PLANT Man?!)

B) The only robot masters that weren't stupid were generic as Hell. (With the sole exceptions of Gravity Man, Napalm Man, Knight Man and Slash Man.)

C) The music in Mega Man 5 & 6 just wasn't memorable at all.

D) The only weapons that were fun to use were the Slash Claw, and the obligatory Leaf Shield rip-offs.

By the way, sequels should have more content than their predecessors, Mega Man 7, not less. Mega Man 5 at least had the Proto Man Stages, and 6 had the Mr. totally-not-Wily Stages, but what did you have? A boring and pointless opening stage?

Also, you can initially only pick from 4 robot masters in MM7. What's up with that?

... Alright, I do kinda like Mega Man 6, but it was still nowhere near the standard set by 3. (Which has yet to be topped by any Mega Man game.)
